Never a big fan of watermelon beers, I have tried quite a few over the years and never liked more than one. Hell Or High Watermelon Wheat Beer from 21st Amendment Brewery in San Francisco did come highly recommended however. I have liked other 21st Amendment brews so I decided to put my watermelon aversion aside and delve into this one.
I should have gone with my initial instinct to avoid this.
From the can it pours a cloudy yellow with a small weak head that dissipates quickly. The aroma is overwhelmingly of watermelon with some grain poking through. The taste is surprisingly bland. The watermelon falvor is overdone and dominates when it should accentuate. The beer overall is watery and a bit flat.
On the plus side it does go down easy and I did plow through several while doing yard work. Really not my style though. Next time I'll think twice. D
