Got to sample the flagship beer from Colorado's Left Hand Brewing Company last night: their amber ale (self-described as an American style ESB) Sawtooth Ale. It had won the Bronze medal in last year's Great American Beer Festival so this was a beer I had been looking forward to.
It pours a nice copper color with a decent head. There is a stark, fruity smell right off the bat. Strong malt taste and some fruit that is subtle, not overwhelming with just the right amount of bitterness. It has a nice medium body. The finish was sweet and mild....very pleasant overall.
Not a dramatic beer but just a good drinkable ale with decent flavor - at 4.4% ABV, a very good session beer in my humble opinion. I would definitely drink this again.
